Jesús López Cobos

Jesús López Cobos , born the February 25th 1940 with Toro, Province of Zamora (Castille-and-León), is a Spanish Leader .

Biography

Doctor of philosophy of the Complutense University of Madrid, it studies thereafter the direction of orchestra with Franco Ferrara and Hans Swarowsky.

In 1968, it gains the First Price with the Concours of Besancon.

In 1981, he is the first member elect of the Prix Prince of Asturies lately created.

He is, of 1981 to 1990, musical director of the Deutsche Oper of Berlin then occupies the posts of head the main thing of the National orchestra of Spain (1984-1989) and musical director of the Symphony orchestra of Cincinnati (1986-2001). From 1990 to 2000, it is also with the head of the Chamber orchestra of Lausanne and directs the French Orchestre of the young people, the formation French school, of 1998 to 2000, then again in 2004.

Since 2002, it occupies the musical position of director of the Symphony orchestra of Madrid, in residence with the Teatro Real.
