Jesús Free

Jesús Franco Manera (born the May 12th 1930 with Madrid) known as Jess Franco is a Spanish scenario writer .

Biography

Jess Franco receives a traditional formation in Real Conservatorio of Madrid, where he learns the Piano. It starts its cinematographic career as a type-setter in 1954. Its first weapons as a realizer are done using Short film S of order (films of company, courts with cultural aiming). Its first Feature-length film is completed in 1959 ( Tenemos 18 años ), first of long series of 180 films (in 2004) showing all the fickleness of the realizer, exploring all the recesses of the Cinéma of kind.

Baited worker, Franco turns of the productions to small budget in a creative frenzy which pushes it to sometimes leave several films at the same time in spite of quasi-systematic problems of distribution (some of its films directly left in video), using with this intention an entourage devoted to his visions, able to make several films at the same time, sometimes without same being with the current (the realizer pushing its creative fury until making turn of the scenes for a forthcoming film to its actors, without to have prevented them). The realizer worked for the most varied and improbable companies of production of the continent of Europe, in particular the French firm Eurociné, specialist in very the small budget. Free proposes a cinema artisanal, impulsive, sometimes bâclé but always filled up gasoline and faith of its creator who always privileged the bottom on the form by leaving voluntarily side the artifices of production for the benefit of a creative urgency quasi-hysterical.

Its meeting with the young person Lina Romay in the Seventies upsets not only its so artistic private life but, Romay playing in the near total of its later films. Free made of its egery a sulfurous character with the often tendentious, sometimes perverse roles; readily exposed, misused, offered on the furnace bridge of creation set up by Free.

Throughout its career, Franco occupied all the stations (Réalisateur, Scénariste, producing, Monteur, Acteur, Compositeur, Director Sound engineer and of the photography) and used many pseudonyms, in particular those of Clifford Brown , David Khune and Jess Frank .

It is also to mention that he was assistant realizer of Orson Welles on the turning of Falstaff and that he carried out an assembly of the unfinished Don Quichotte of Welles which one can find in dvd.
