Jerome Robbins
Jerome Robbins (of his true name Jerome Rabinowitz ) is a dancer, choreographer and American realizer born the October 11th 1918 with New York and deceased the July 29th 1998 with New York.
The dancer
Resulting from a family of emigrated Russian Jews, it receives a very complete formation: academic works of chemistry, ballet dancing and modern, course of theater (in particular with Elia Kazan), of piano and violin. As of 1939, it occurs in musical comedies chorégraphiées by George Balanchine and composes her first works. It enters in 1940 to the Ballet Theater of New York as soloist and, in 1944, it composes its first ballet, Fancy Free , which is worth an enormous success to him and opens to him the doors of Broadway and the cinema. In 1948, it joined Balanchine with the New York City Ballet and until in 1958 becomes about it the assistant editor.
