Political role

Jerome Monod is, since the years 1970, one of the most listened political friends of Jacques Chirac. One of the craftsmen of the foundation of RPR with Mr. Chirac, it is become again one of its closer advisers in 2000, to prepare at the same time the presidential election of 2002 and the creation of the Union for a popular movement. True “3eminence grise” of the President and Alain Juppe, then president of UMP, it took part closely in the internal negociations with this formation, including in the preparation of the regional elections of 2004 (it would have in particular proposed stations on the lists of the European elections of 2004 with the former ministers like Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin, Noëlle Lenoir or Luc Ferry.)

He also played a central role in the creation of the Fondation for the political innovation which he chaired until October 14th, 2004 and of which he remains honorary president.

Near to Mr. Chirac, her relations with Nicolas Sarkozy are manifestly not the best. But in January 2007, he announces his support for the candidate of UMP to the presidential ones.

He is an eminent member of the Fondation Agrees near to Jacques Chirac which gathers various personalities in order to “promote the economic activity and the entrepreneuriat in particular”.

In the book the invisible brothers, the journalists Renaud Lecadre and Ghislaine Ottenheimer reveal that Monod was one of the principal associates maconnic of Jacques Chirac.
