The Trilateral Commission (sometimes shortened in Trilatérale ) is a private organization which was created in 1973 on the initiative of the principal leaders of the group Bilderberg and the Council one Foreign Relations, among which David Rockefeller, Henry Kissinger and Zbigniew Brzezinski. Gathering 300 to 400 personalities among more distinguished and influential - intellectual business men, politicians and decision makers - Europe Western, North America and Asia Peaceful (States whose majority are also members of OECD), its goal is to promote and to build a political and economic co-operation between these three key zones of the world, poles of the Triade. Following the example group Bilderberg, it acts of a group in favor of the ideology mondialist , to which some allot the orchestration of the economic Mondialisation.

Foundation

The idea was initially put forward in June 1972 by David Rockefeller, which was quickly joined by Zbigniew Brzezinski. The Trilateral Commission officially was created with Tokyo on July 1st, 1973. At that time, the world leadership of the the United States started to be weakened in the industrial sector and commercial by the performances of the Germany and the Japan, while were amorçaient the Economic crisis due to the rise of the oil price and the monetary Crise due to the abandonment of the system of Bretton Woods - the United States being with the source of these two phenomena. The idea was to substitute for the American leadership a trilateral partnership.

In its booklet " Presentation of Trilateral by Trilatérale" emitted in 1977, the Commission is defined itself as “an organization directed towards decision making” between the “democracies industrial” , defined as “a community having its own identity and constituting a vital stake” . The document specifies that the system of the post-war period was exceeded ( “a power was prevalent while the others were closely associated for him” ), and that it was necessary “to promote a more equitable international order” , by setting up a “joint work between the trilateral areas, Commission having to generate the context favorable to the concretization of this effort” . It should be noted that all did not occur as envisaged in the American camp because of emergence from the running néo-conservative, in particular starting from the mandate of Ronald Reagan, which succeeded Jimmy Carter (former member of Trilateral) and attempted to reaffirm the American leardership.

On the history of the Trilateral Commission, in addition to the various quoted resources, one will consult with profit the work published at the time of his 25 years (see the bibliography). Published by the Trilateral one, it comprises many anecdotes and a collection of rather astonishing photographs like the Trilateral one received by Juan Carlos, Jean-Paul II, Margaret Thatcher, Mikhail Gorbachev in 1989, or that of François Mitterrand, Yitzhak Shamir and Yasser Arafat in 1990.

Distribution of the seats

The rise of the number of the members of Trilateral having been exponential as of its creation, of the limitations last being imposed on the surrounding of 1980. The limit was reached whereas new countries started to be represented in the newsgroups.

The European group

The European group reached its ceiling of 150 members. This group includes members of the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Cyprus, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

The number of representatives for the continent of North America of 107, is distributed as follows:

The Asian group

In the beginning, the third continent was exclusively represented by the Japan, which had 85 seats, but in 2000, this known group an expansion and became the group representing Pacific Asia, composed of 117 members divided as follows: The new Asian-Pacific group includes also members of the people of HongKong (5) and of République of China (Taiwan) (4).

Modus operandi

The Trilateral one publishes studies (the review The Triangle Papers ) carried out by Task forces (joining together work group of the key figures, generally of at least three regional zones) and which, once transmitted to their members and controlling, have major international repercussions in foreign politics, that it acts of economy or geopolitics (communication, energy, demography, great balances, etc). Between a preliminary report/ratio ( Draft Carryforward , generally nonavailable near the public) and the final report published in the review Triangle Papers , the report/ratio is discussed in annual international meeting. The report/ratio can then be altered before publication.

A review is also published at the conclusion of the annual meeting, it acts of the review Trialogue . The reports/ratios are available on the official site of the Trilateral Commission (see in the external bonds, or near the various regional sites, in Paris for example).

The subjects of study are chosen by the presidents, the vice-presidents and the directors, on the councils of the Executive committee and others. The authors are then invited, sometimes on the initiative of the Members of the Commission.

The authors “are not lodged” in the subcommittee bureaus during the preparation of their report/ratio. They remain in their existing professional statutes and the Commission allows them to meet each other rapporteur several times during the development of the study. The reports/ratios are for the Trilateral Commission, and not of the Commission.

Members

In order to help to preserve the not-official character of the Commission, the members who give an opinion in their national administration give up de facto their membership of the Trilateral Commission. The members are selected on a national basis. The procedure used for the rotation and the invitation of the novel members varies according to the national group.

The portraits of a majority of the presidents, vice-presidents, directors, who they are current or old, are available on the official site.
