One knows the name of his mother only through the chronicle obituary of Jeanne in annals of Tewkesbury where it appears under the mysterious name of “Regina Clementia” (Queen Clemence). It would seem that Jeanne passed her childhood in France, because Jean had it arch in England by the Normandy for his marriage which took place in 1203 or 1204.
Jeanne married Llywelyn Large the, king of Gwynedd, traditionally known by the title of “Prince de Galles”, between December 1203 and October 1204. She gave him four children:

Gwladys Ddu (dead in 1251) which married Reginald de Broase and Ralph de Mortimer

- Susanna , which was sent in England like hostage in 1228
- Dafydd ap Llywelyn (1211? - 1246) which reigned 6 years on Gwynedd
In April 1226, Jeanne obtained a decree of the Pope Honorius III which declared its legitimacy, although his/her parents were not married with its birth, but which prohibits to him nevertheless to claim with the crown of England. It was about an attempt at her husband so that his/her son legitimates Dafydd can be his only heir.
In 1230, Llywelyn surprised Jeanne in full adultery with Guillaume de Braose in his room to be laid down. It made hang Guillaume and imprison Jeanne, but ends up forgiving it and returning its row of princess to him.
Jeanne died in March 1236 and was buried with the parish of Llanfaes close to Beaumaris. Its funerary stele can be seen with the parish church of Beaumaris.
