Jeanne Delanoue
Jeanne Delanoue (born the June 18th 1666 with Saumur, under the reign of Louis XIV and deceased August 17th 1736 in the same city) is a French Sainte .
Biography
His/her parents hold a store of Mercerie which it will take again with its load starting from 1692, date of died of his/her mother. At its beginnings Jeanne was économoe, radine and never not making alms.However to the Pentecost 1693, a certain Francoise Souchet will make him rock its life. Come in pilgrimage with Our-Lady-of-Ardilliers the, this one will invite Jeanne to dedicate her life to be devoted to the poor. At the time of the Corpus Christi of the same year, Jeanne knows three days of extase. The Virgin Mary reveals to him what the Lord asks him for itself and for the poor.
Quickly, it is known in the city and the indigeants are not satisfied any more to await it but come directly in the house, baptized the Providence where they are accommodated, nourished and placed. The July 3rd 1703, this house is destroyed during the crumbling of a slope.
The small community then will move in the caves of Tufeau and takes, the July 26th 1704 the name of " Sisters of co. Anne, Maidservants of the poor of the Providence of Saumur". The constitutions of the Congregation are approved by évèque Angers the September 28th 1709.
In 1715, Jeanne founds the first old people's home of the town of Saumur. She dies on August 17th, 1736. On this date, it founded eleven communities were founded years the dioceses of Angers, of the Indre, Indre-et-Loire, the Morbihan and the Loire-Atlantique.
Development of the Congregation
In 1864, the seat of the Congregation settles with St Hilaire St Florent. The December 2nd 1956, three sisters leave for Madagascar to build a first foundation. The December 3rd 1964, the Congregation changes name to take that of " Maidservants of the Poor of Jeanne Delanoue " , in homage to its creative. A few years later, another congregation of Nantes, also rested by Jeanne, joined the Congregation. Thereafter, the September 12th 1979 it will continue its extension by sending for the first time a community of French sisters and Madagascans in Indonesia, on island of Sumatra.
Canonization
The November 5th 1947, Jeanne Delanoue was registered with the number of Happy by Pie XII. She was canonized the October 31st 1982 by the pope Jean-Paul II.
