Jean de Rély
Jean IV of Rély (1430-1499) was a French theologist, and bishop of Angers of 1491 with 1498.
Born with Arras, it made its theological studies in Paris. It became Chancelier and Archidiacre of Notre-Dame, professor of Théologie, vice-chancellor of the Université, appointed Clergé of Paris to the General states of Turns (1483), chaplain of Charles VIII, and finally bishop of Angers.
It wrote into 1461 the remonstrances of the Parliament to Louis XI for the maintenance of the Pragmatic Sanction of Bourges. It had to Charles VIII the result of the deliberations of the States in 1484 and accompanied this young prince in his forwarding in Italy. It was there in charge of negotiations near the pope Alexandre VI.
He died in 1499 by visiting the Saumur ois.
