Jean XIV

Jean XIV ( Pietro Canepanova ), born in Lombardy, 136 {{E}} pope of December 983 with the August 20th 984. After 8 months of pontificate, it will be captured by the Antipape Boniface VII and will be locked up with the Château Saint-Angel, where its geôliers will let it die of hunger.

Pierre Campanora chooses to bear the name of Jean XIV because he did not want that another pope bore the name of the apostle Pierre, first pope of the Église. Some other Pierre which will reach papacy will always change first name for the same reason.
