Jean Whetstone
Jean Whetstone , born with Châtellerault the January 6th 1594 and dead the April 15th 1670, is Pasteur and French theologist, considered as one of the largest defenders of the reformed Churches of its time.
He is tutor of the two grandsons of Philippe Duplessis-Mornay and made with them several voyages in various parts of the Europe in 1612. On its return, he exerts the ministry with Saumur in 1625, then with Charenton of 1626 to his death.
He is known especially for his works of Protestant Apologétique, which were worth to him to be attacked in particular by the Jesuit and catholic priest of Charenton, François Véron. In addition to several volumes of sermons on the epistles of holy Paul, it published important treaties on the Calvinisme in French and Latin.
