Jean Verstappen
Jean Verstappen born on February 1st, 1923 with Uccle is a Belgian politician of the Belgian Communist party and a Walloon militant.
He belongs to Resistance in 1942, engages in 1944 in the 11th battalion of fusillers, makes thus the countryside of Germany in the 3rd American army of the general Patton.
As of 1950, it engages in the communist mediums, is presented in the form of a Christian progressist on the lists of the party to Rixensart (October 1952), but is not elected. It founds the Groupe of Marxist studies which brings together in the years 1950 many priests of the the Walloon Brabant and of the Communists. It takes part in the General strike of the winter 1960-1961 and organizes the strike with the Henrico factories of Short-Saint-Etienne. It adheres to the Walloon Popular movement and is elected senator on a list of trust gathering of the Communists, the Socialists and the militants of the Walloon Parti the workers. However, known as the Encyclopedia of the Walloon Movement (Volume III, p. 1609), in fact especially the reforms of structure interest it and not the Fédéralisme in itself that he rather sees like a means that like an end. In 1968, it is not re-elected and with the Walloon Rassemblement wants some that it shows to have benefitted from the conscientisation operated by the Walloon Popular movement and to have thrown the disorder in the spirit of the workers.
