Jean Verdier (prefect)

Jean Verdier (born the May 28th 1915 with Marcenat (Cantal); deceased the November 7th 1974 with Paris) was prefect of Paris and chairman of the board of the Public assistance.

Biography

Jean Verdier with successful an impressive administrative career:

  • 1951 : principal private secretary of the French Minister of Interior Department
  • 1952: director of the regulation
  • 1957: managing director of the French national security
  • 1962: prefect of the Seine-et-Marne
  • 1967: prefect the area of Alsace - prefect of the the Low-Rhine
  • 1971 - 1974: prefect of Paris and chairman of the board of the Public assistance.

For this last period, was built the hospital of Bondy. In 1975, after its death, this hospital will bear its name to honor its action as a chairman of the board with the Public assistance.

It also obtained following decorations:

  • Commander of the legion of honor
  • large officer of the National order of the titular merit
  • of the Military Cross with palms and of the Medal of Resistance
