Jean de Plantavit of the Pause goes down from Strozzi, family famous of Toscane which, allied to the Médicis, gave scientists, statesmen, painters, poets, and senators. Decius Strozzi took the name of his/her mother Porcia Plantaviti , and gave up its fatherland to be fixed in France towards the end of the 13th century, where one of its sons will be established in the the Cevennes to form the branch of the Plantavit of the Pause . His/her brother will create the family branch of the Plantavit de Margon

The descendants of Decius will occupy of high loads in the army under the reigns of Charles VII, Louis XII, Charles VIII… etc… The Plantavit family will embrace the Protestant religion, dominant in the the Cevennes, whereas Christophe de Plantavit of the Pause is combined with a catholic family by marrying Isabeau d' Assas , girl of the lord of Marcassargues .

Biography

Jean de Plantavit of the Pause wire of Christophe de Plantavit of the Pause and of Isabeau d' Assas , born in 1579, is high in the Protestant religion, makes its studies with the college of Nimes where he will study the languages old, and promised with the ministry evangelic, he will study Hebrew. Doctor of Divinity it is conferred on the faculty of Nimes and is appointed to preach the Gospel with reformed church of Béziers.

Noticed by its gifts of speaker, the September 8th 1604, it celebrates publicly in the temple of Boujan-on-Libron, village close to Béziers, the worship of the virgin, but always under the influence of his mother, he will be priest and leave for Rome to follow studies of Eastern languages.
