Jean VI of Aumont

Jean VI of Aumont (born in 1522 - died in 1595), baron of Estrabonne, Count of Chateauroux, made its first weapons in Piedmont like Capitaine of cavalry under the marshal of Brissac. The frankness and the heat of its character as its imposing presence made it call “ the franc Gaulois ”.
It was wounded and made captive at the day of Saint-Quentin the August 10th 1557, and took then an active share with the Civil war against the Huguenots. It was with the Bataille S of Saint-Quentin the August 10th 1557, of Dreux the December 19th 1562, Moncontour the September 3rd 1569, with the seat of the La Rochelle, the catch of Fontenay-the-Count June 1st 1587, of Mesle and Lusignan. The king rewarded it by doing it Chevalier about the Holy Spirit on January 1st 1579 and Marshal of France the December 23rd for the same year. With died of Henri III, it was one of the first to line up near Henri IV and to swear fidelity to him.
It accepted new king the government of the Champagne. He fought with strength against the catholic Ligue with the Bataille of Arch in particular in September 1589 and showed so valiant with the Bataille of Ivry the March 14th 1590 that the king says to him, at the evening of this victory: “ It is right that you are feast, after me to have been used so well for my weddings ”.
It was sent by Henri IV to restore his business in the Maine after the defeat of its weapons with Craon the May 23rd 1592. It took Mayenne, the August 15th, then in 1593 was provided with the government of Brittany and was devoted to subject this province, and to supervise Maine.
It is from there that it started with some Laval laws, Guillaume the Clerk of Craniums, especially, of the negotiations which delivered the city to him where it entered without resistance the April 27th 1594. Having put the seat in front of the Castle of Comper, close to Rennes, it was seriously wounded by a Mousquet ade and died of the continuations of its wounds the August 19th 1595 at the age of soixante-treize years.
Aumont will have served six kings: François Ier, Henri II, François II, Charles IX, Henri III and Henri IV.
He is the grandfather of Antoine, first Duc of Aumont.
