Jean Tiberi is a Politician French.
Biography
He was born the January 30th 1935 with Paris. Jean Tiberi is a Magistrat and a Politician French, former member of UDR then RPR and from now on member of UMP, Député of the Second district of Paris since 1968, Secretary of State in charge of food industries in 1976, mayor of Paris of 1995 with 2001 and of the 5th district of Paris of 1983 with 1995 and since 2001.
Origin, studies and professional path
Jean Tiberi was born in 1935, in the 5th district of Paris. He makes his schooling with the Collège Holy-Bores, always in 5th, then continues higher learning with the faculty of Droit and becomes Magistrat. Substitute with Metz and Meaux, it is named judge with Beauvais, detached then with the chancellery.
Political career
Jean Tibéri enters in policy near Rene Capitant, directing gaullists of left and is elected in 1965 at the municipal council of Paris.En 1968, he is the temporary deputy of Rene Capitant. When this last enters to the government, It replaces it like deputy Gaulliste of Paris the June 30th 1968. In 1973, it is elected appointed under its proper name.
Jean Tiberi one of closest is then a long time associated Jacques Chirac of which it was the Secretary of State in his government in 1976.
Après the election of Jacques Chirac to the town hall of Paris in 1977, it becomes its Suppléant in the 5th district then its first assistant.
En 1995, after being elected with the presidency of the republic, Jacques Chirac chooses it to succeed to him preferably the town hall of Paris with Jacques Toubon.
Jean Tiberi is elected mayor of Paris in June 1995 following the victory of coalition RPR-UDF in 14 of the 20 districts of the capital. Its mandate nevertheless is undermined by a certain number of legal affairs going up mainly at the time of the mandate of Jacques Chirac. Besides it is the subject of an attempt at putsch per Jacques Toubon in 1998.

Achievements of mandature
The mandature of Jean Tiberi is not marked by great political upheavals compared to that of Jacques Chirac, of which it constitutes the prolongation:- It proposes the fight against pollution by multiplying the corridors of bus (protected but especially not protected) and the cycle tracks.
- It inaugurates the news footbridge of Solférino.
- It starts again the idea and the studies of a project of tram to the periphery of the capital (project which will be carried out only later by Bertrand Delanoë in the form of the tram of the Marshals).
- It opens the bank roads Sunday with the pedestrians.
- Under its mandate, the rate of debt per capita reaches his level low and each year, it will obtain for the city the best financial note of the agency Standard & Poors: AAA, which allows him inter alia borrowing from the best rates.
Municipal elections of 2001
In 2000, RPR chaired by Michele Alliot-Marie decides not to renew it automatically and initiates a procedure aiming at designating another candidate. It is finally Philippe Séguin, deputy and mayor of Épinal, which is indicated to carry the colors of RPR combined to Liberal Démocratie (DL) and UDF. Jean Tiberi maintained his candidature however and presented lists in all the districts whereas the left made a common front.
Au evening of the first turn in March 2001, lists RPR-UDF-DL of Philippe Séguin arrived in front of those of Jean Tiberi in 18 of the 20 districts. Philippe Séguin refused any fusion with teams of which he considered the frequentation sulfurous. At the evening of the second turn, with nearly 51% of the votes (including 35% for the lists of Philippe Seguin), the line is finally preceded of many seats by the list of the plural left led by Bertrand Delanoë (12 districts against 8).
Jean Tiberi gained 12 seats with the Council of Paris, as well as the town hall of the 5th district while its assistant of finances, Jean-François Legaret asserted himself in the 1st district. With the end of the year 2002, Philippe Seguin was withdrawn from the policy, in the long term allowing the regrouping of the group of the advisers of Paris RPR-DL with the tiberists in that of the UMP news.
Jean Tiberi is re-elected appointed the June 16th 2002, for XIIe legislature (2002 - 2007), in the district of Paris (Ve).
Legislative elections of 2007
In June 2007, Jean Tiberi is candidate for his re-election like deputy of the Second district of Paris. It faces again with the socialist candidate Lyne Cohen-Solal. It gains the first turn with 43,3% of the voices, vis-a-vis 27,7% for the socialist candidate. June 17th 2007, it is re-elected appointed with 52,7% of voice with second turn (51,05% of the voices in the 5th district he is mayor), thus starting its 11th mandate.
Municipal elections of 2008
Like Claude Goasguen, Francoise de Panafieu and Pierre Lellouche, Jean Tiberi was candidate with the UMP nomination for the countryside of 2008 for the town hall of Paris, but it did not pass the first turn of the internal primary educations to the UMP. Bernard Debré, appointed 16th district, connected UMP also wishes to be presented to the municipal elections but did not want to take part in these primary S. It is finally Francoise de Panafieu which is invested by the UMP.
Businesses
During its career, Jean Tiberi and his wife Xavière Tiberi were implied in some politico-financial Affaires:- the procedure initiated against him in the Affaire of the HLM of Paris ended in a Non-lieu. It is as a president of the public Office of installation and construction (OPAC) of HLM of Paris that Jean Tiberi had been put in examination, in June 1999, by the judge Eric Halphen within the framework of an investigation on the skirting of the legal procedures of invitation to tender of the markets of the Parisian HLM.
