Jean Starobinski
Jean Starobinski born with Geneva (Swiss) the November 17th 1920 studied the traditional letters then the Médecine with the Université of Geneva from which he is doctor in letters and doctor of medicine.
He taught the French Littérature with the Université Johns Hopkins, with that of Basle, like in Geneva, where he to him was also entrusted courses of history of the ideas and Histoire of medicine.
Its books, translated into a dozen languages, enriched the sights on philosopher's stones. He also devoted many work to contemporary poetic creation, like with the problems of interpretation. Its tests on the art of the 17th century are the traditional ones.
Its experiment of doctor and psychiatrist led it to study the history of the Mélancolie (in particular in Three Furies , 1974). It was the very first one, in 1964, to publish the searchs for Ferdinand de Saussure on the Anagramme S.
Jean Starobinski is member of the Academy of Science Morals and Political, of the Institut of France, as well as several French Academies, European and American. He is doctor honoris causa of many universities in Europe and America.
