Jean Seberg

Jean Seberg , born the November 13rd 1938 with Marshalltown in the Iowa, deceased the September 8th 1979 with Paris, is an American actress who passed an important part of her career in France.

Biography

Small, fair and inexperienced, it makes its first two films, Jeanne d' Arc and Hello sadness , under the direction of Otto Preminger. Chosen among 18000 candidates, it is the only one to animate Jeanne d' Arc (1957), this empesée play of which it holds the title role.

In 1958, she marries French lawyer François Moreuil and comes to live in Paris. They divorce in 1960, shortly after that it directed it in the film the Recreation (1961).

She is known as an icon of the New wave, in particular thanks to the film Breathless (1960) of Jean-Luc Godard. At the sides of Jean-Paul Belmondo, she interprets Patricia Franchini, saleswoman of newspapers on the Fields-Élysées.

At the end of the years 1960, it uses its celebrity for political causes, in particular those of the Amerindians and Black Panthers. This engagement puts it in conflict with FBI; the leader, J. Edgar Hoover, request to neutralize it. It has a time a connection with the militant of the black panthers and chair Organization of the Unit Afro-American, Hakim Abdullah Jamal, which gives up woman and children to follow Seberg to Paris.

In September 1970, whereas it are pregnant seven months and divorcing its second husband Romain Gary, a campaign launched by the FBI and recovery by the newspapers claims that the child is designed not by Romain Gary but by a member of Black Panthers. She makes a miscarriage and, during a conference, declares that these insinuations traumatisée it and plunged in a depression making it suicidal. She shows a coffin of her daughter still-born child to the transparent lid in order to prove the skin color of the child and thus to make conceal the rumors.

Jean Seberg knew problems of alcoholism and Drogue. It made several suicide attempts at the dates birthdays of the loss of her daughter, and threw in 1978 pennies an oar of the subway of Paris. Less than one year afterwards, it was reported missing and its body was found eleven days, rolled up later in a cover with the back of its car in XVIe district of Paris, close to its residence. The police report indicates that she succumbed to a massive alcohol but barbiturate surdose also (8,2 G per liter) and concludes with the suicide at the end of her investigation. The circumstances of its death remain nevertheless obscure, it is indeed impossible to introduce as much alcohol by oneself because 4g/l is enough to plunge a person in the coma.

She was buried in the Cimetière of Montparnasse.

Its second husband Romain Gary (they were married of 1962 to 1970), father of his son Alexandre Diego, committed suicide one year after the death of Jean. In the letter which it left, it wrote: no relationship with Jean Seberg .

In 1972, she marries in third weddings Dennis Berry, realizer and wire of John Berry. She did not divorce yet this last when she marries Ahmed Hasmi in 1978, without legal force.
