Jean Roussel-Despierres
Jean Roussel-Despierres , born the October 14th 1832 with Segonzac (department of Charente), is a French personality of the Third Republic, at the same time high-ranking magistrate and man of letters.
After studies with the college of Cahors, he married Marie-Francoise Guilhou, girl of the notary of Saint-Vincent-Bank-in Olt (Batch). He was Justice of the Peace to Milianah then Examining magistrate with Oran, in Algérie, prosecuting attorney with Lyon, Préfet of Constantine (1879), prefect of the Yonne, the the Dordogne, to advise State, general secretary of the large chancellery of the Légion of honor.
He wrote Souvenirs of a former magistrate in Algeria and collaborated in many literary, political and sociological reviews.
He is the father of François Roussel-Despierres.
