It made studies with the royal college of Lyon on the councils of its tutor Merlin of Thionville, then it entered to the polytechnic school, became mining engineer. It was a time follower of the ideas of Saint-Simon but did not adhere logtemps to these doctrines. At the time of the revolution of 1848, it was sent by the voters of the the Moselle to the constituent Assembly, one appointed it under-secretary of State to the State education. Its works
-
Ground and sky , 1854. Certainly its most important book. Reynaud poses there the principle of the preexistence of the man and his survival in other stars. Taking a very large freedom on the religious context of the time, Reynaud joins again with a certain image of the Druidisme, requalifies the opposition between Ange S and demon S and rejects the dogma of the eternal sorrows. A Concile of bishop S at this meeting in Périgueux condemned its book which remains, still today, a philosophical and literary curiosity.
- Considerations on the spirit of Gaulle , 1847. The work is extracted from the article Druidisme of the “ new Encyclopédie ”.
- Speech on the physical condition of the ground , 1840. Another extract of the “ new Encyclopedia ”.
- Choice of letters , 1861. Written letters by Merlin de Thioville, with a life of Merlin as a foreword.
- Works chosen, varied readings , 1865.
