Jean Pomagalski

Jean Pomagalski is a French engineer-mechanic of Polish origin which was a pioneer in the development of the ski lift for the skiers.

Taking as a starting point the cables used to discharge the wood balls in mountain, he invents the system of the Téléski or ski tow with poles. First in 1935 in the station of is installed Alpe d' Huez.

A few years later it develops the system disengageable fasteners on the tension cable used in particular in the system of the Poma 2000.

With the development of the Ski and the constant improvements of the materials (chair-lifts, telpher carriers) the company Poma which it created became world leader of the sector.

Its grand-daughter, Julie Pomagalski, is world champion of Snowboard in 2004.
