Jean Placotomus , (1514 -1576), German doctor

• De Tuenda bona valetudine, libellus Eobani Hesr, commentariis doctissilis has Ionne Placotomo… illustratus . Frankfurt, Christian Egenolf, 1582. This edition contains the very developed comments of Jean Placotomus. They confer on the poem Eobanus a great scientific and medical value. Second half of the book contains two very important treaties of Placotomus: on the Beer and the Hydromel; that of beer is very complete. One finds the history of this drink, the art of the brewer, the comparisons between brown ales and fair, the analysis of savors, manufacture and the conservation, of detailed descriptions of various German beers: of Prussia, Poland, Lithuania, Poméranie, Walk, Hamburg, Lubeck, Brunswick, Rostock, Erfurt, etc It finishes by beers aromatized with the Sauge, with the Hysope, the pink S, the Armoise, the Origan, the Mélisse, the Genièvre, the Cerise S, the Prunelle,… At the end, one finds three Dissertation S proposed with its pupils of Königsberg on the causes of the intoxication and on its remedies.
