Jean Montaldo

Jean Montaldo , born the September 6th 1941 with Teniet-el-Haad (Algeria), is a Journaliste and writer of investigation French.

Origin

Member of one of the most former black feet families, established in Algeria since his conquest in 1830, Jean Montaldo is the son of the senator-mayor of Algeria, former president of the General advice of Orléansville, Pierre-Rene Montaldo, Politician of Center-left and doctor of medicine, cofounder of the HLM in France, one of the liberal leaders (with Jacques Soustelle) who preached a total integration of the Algerian Muslim community of the time in the French community.

Course

In 1962 with the Decolonization, Jean Montaldo leaves the Algérie with its family, except for one of her uncles (Andre Calléja) removed, carried out and thrown in a mass grave (in July 1962) by member of the FLN (national Face of release, sole party of the new Algerian republic), at the time of its final departure for the Metropolitan France.

Very young person, it is directed towards the Journalisme and works for several press agencies of which the daily Dispatch of Algeria (until the independence of this old French territory), Combat , Minute , Paris Match , the Dawn , the Express train , the Daily newspaper of Paris , Le Figaro Magazine or Canard Enchaîné .

Regarded by much as one of the veterans of the press of French investigation, it has as a mentor the Philosophe and Journaliste Jean-François Revel of the French Academy, deceased in May 2006, which devoted to him an important portrait in its “Memories”.

Attached since 1973 to the Editions Albin Michel, it is there also director of collection.

At the time of the French presidential election of 1988, it revealed the presence of subliminal images with the television news of Antenna 2.

In 1995, it is pleased with the election of Jacques Chirac to the Presidency of the Republic, which it believes being a just politician. But in 2006, in its book Chirac and the 40 liars… , it will admit being misled. Saying " cuckold but not content" , it puts at it end to end, in an indictment relentless, turpitudes of the Chirac years, before and after her first election with the Presidency of the Republic: a nap which leads it to introduce Jacques Chirac like " the perfect clone of François Mitterrand " , " the pupil having exceeded the maître".

Style and works with success

Jean Montaldo published various works with great diffusion which caused the controversy. He is presented readily in the form of a “anticonformist liberal”. The historians Jean-Jacques Becker and Laurent Martin rather see there a “polemist of extreme right-hand side”. Judgment disputed by Jean-François Revel in his Memories published in 1997
