Jean Maurel
Jean Maurel, born the November 10th 1960 with Nantes, is a French skipper.
The October 21st 1999, at the time of the Deckchair Jacques Vabre (the Harbor-Carthagène), the sailing ship of Paul Vatine and Jean Maurel, " Group André" capsize off the Azores. Arrived first on the spot, the navigators Marc Guillemot and Jean-Luc Nélais, on board their trimaran " Trinitaine" inform the PC Race of the Jacques Vabre Transatlantic race, that the trimaran " Group André" capsized and that the skipper of the boat, Paul Vatine, is not any more on board. Jean Maurel, his team-member will be recovered by a cargo liner.

It was Project Manager for the group Bayer of 2001 to 2004. He is director of race of the Transat Jacques Vabre since the edition 2005.
