Jean Louvet

Jean Louvet is a Belgian writer Walloon born with Moustier-on-Sambre the September 28th 1934. Laid off in Romance philology of the Universit3e libre de Bruxelles (1959), is named French professor to the athenaeum of Morlanwelz.

Influenced by Sartre and Brecht, its literary career starts at the beginning of the Années 1960. During the General strike of the winter 1960-1961, Jean Louvet becomes aware of the possibility that it has to create a theater company with actors amateurs in order to continue the action of this resounding strike in Wallonia. It chooses the town of Louvière to reside at it. Thus from the proletarian Théâtre of Louvière is born the troop which presents, as of 1962, the train of the good god , his first writing (published in 1976).

This first part will succeed, inter alia, Year I (1963), Mort and resurrection of the Citizen Julien T (1967), Conversation in Wallonia (1978), the man who had the sun in his pocket (1982), Faust (1985), the great plot (1990), Jacob alone (1991), a man of company (1992), Simenon (1994), the warning (1995), made advertisement with Benoît (1996).

The parts of Jean Louvet fall under the history, the life and the interiority of the beings. Realism joined there symbolism and the allegory, the weight of the ideas contrasts with the refinement of the writing. For the author and critical Jean-Marie Piemme, the parts of Louvet have a Walloon anchoring, but its glance is much broader than the Walloon company.

Organizer of the Studio-Theater of Louvière since 1980, the troop is made up nonprofessional actors. Moreover, each one (E) is invited (E) according to its availability to write its own play, an approach which meets a real success.

Joint author and promoter of the Proclamation for the Walloon culture (1983) which will know an 2nd edition in 2003, Manifeste for main Wallonia of its culture, its education and its research . Since his creation so far (March 2007), Jean Louvet is the president of the Mouvement of Walloon Proclamation (MW).

Its complete work is in way of edition. The first volume has just appeared: Jean Louvet, Theater 1 , editions of the AML (Files & Museum of the Literature, in partnership with Labor), Collection Files of the future, 2006 (ISBN 2-87168-033-7). This volume includes/understands: the Train of the good god , the Year a , With soon Mr Lang , Died and resurrection of the citizen Julien T. , the Customers , the Buffoon .

Jean Louvet received the price of the Wallon of the year 2002 . Prize winner of the price of SACD and the triennial price of dramatic Literature in 1984. In 1990, it obtained the Price Andre Praga for the whole of its work.

Anecdote

Ascending sign of the Balance Ram, Jean Louvet is the husband of Janine Laruelle, ceramist, painter, playwright and actress who is sign of the ascending Ram Balance.
