Jean Larivière

Jean Larivière (born with Paris the March 12th 1940) is a Photographe French.

Biography

  • 1940 : Birth of Jean Lariviere in Paris.
  • Diploma of the National school of the Art schools of Angers.
  • 1963/1973 : Realization of a cartoon film, Never always, with the support of the surrealist painter Roberto Matta, and of the scenario writers: Chris Marker, Roger Vadim and Christian Quinson.
  • the Sixties : Creation of a four minute old cartoon, 17th parallel grin, in which it stigmatizes the war with Vietnam.
  • 1966 : Assistant of Chris Marker for film, If I had four dromedaries . It continues the cinema of animation for television.
  • 1967 : Jean Lariviere invents a machine with the strange capacity: to disintegrate the erotic feelings. He presents the plans to Salvador Dali which, enthusiastic, order the realization. But, for lack of means, this one will not be born. The project however remains of topicality.
  • the Seventies : He discovers photography. Its multiple voyages inspire to him by the settings in scene in black and white, strong and contrasted, in which he confronts landscapes and characters. Then, it turns to advertizing photography. Thus it creates a catalog for the malletier Louis Vuitton and carries out its new countryside, the heart of the voyage: beginning of a collaboration which has lasted for more than twenty years, and which will take it along in more than seventeen countries.
  • the Eighties : Jean Lariviere continues his research and his work plastics through the publicity campaigns. He develops a work method which takes part of the construction of its work and the development of its formal grammar: he draws and composes the image before even leaving. He contributes regularly, as a fashion photographer, with the magazines Vogue France, Jardin of the Modes, Égoïste and Current. He also sees himself entrusting the publicity campaigns of prestigious claws such Van Cleef & Arpels, Nina Ricci, Montana, for the perfumes, the Lanvin houses, Pierre Cardin, Georges Rech, Mercedes, Charles Jourdan, the champagnes Pommery and Lanson, or the great wine Lafite Rothschild.
  • 1985 : He receives the price of the best advertizing photographer.
  • 1987 : Exposure to Hamilton' S Gallery, London, and Miller' S Studio, Zurich.

  • Years 1990 : Led parallel to the large Virgin countryside or to the photographs of mode, the illustrated report occupies an omnipresent place in its work. Thus appear a report on pollution in Czechoslovakia in the magazine Actuel , and another on the baths of Budapest for Glamor .
  • 1990/1991 : Festival of the photography of mode, Budapest.
  • 1992 : Festival of the center of Andalusian photography, Almeria (Spain) and World Fair of Seville.
  • 1993 : It carries out a report with Pagan in Burma on the old temples, for Patrimoine 2001 pennies the aegis of UNESCO.
  • 1994 : It carries out the large publicity campaigns for Chaumet, a campaign for Barclay' S Bank and an international booklet for the Currency of Paris. In addition, the first toys resulting from its personal collection make their appearance in the new publicity campaign of Louis Vuitton.   • 1997 : He resolutely turns to the fashion while collaborating regularly in the magazines IT , Cosmopolitan and Marie-Claire . Two simultaneous exposures, Triumphing It and Travels to Burma, under the aegis of the European Maison of photography (MEP), with the photographic space of the Forum of the Markets, Paris.

  • 2003 :
    • Creation of Forwarding and No , two artistic series inspired of its tour in Chile.
    • Exposure of a photograph of Forwarding to the Carousel of the Louvre of Paris, within the framework of Paris Photo.
  • 2004 : Universal Symbol off the brand , exposure to Kobe (Japan).
  • Today : The photographer mixes personal photographs and watercolours in becoming in single works. In addition, it is harnessed with an exposure as well as a book devoted to its work. Moreover, its friendly collaboration at the Vuitton house is always of topicality, the latter having requested it for the creation of mural planks to integrate in their new shop in the world.
  • Since 1996 : Many works of Jean Lariviere entered the collections of which the CNAP (National center of the visual arts) and FNAC (national Fund of contemporary art) as well as the MAM Paris (Musée of modern art of the Town of Paris).
