Jean Lamour

Jean Lamour (born on March 26th, 1698 with Nancy - deceased on June 20th, 1771 with Nancy) is a French metal worker and ironworker with the service of the King de Pologne, Duc of Lorraine, Stanislas Leszczynski.
Biography of Jean-Baptiste Lamour (1698-1771)
Jean-Baptiste Lamour, commonly called Jean, is the son of a Master Serrurier. He reaches the control after a training with Metz and Paris, between 1715/1719. Knowing the forging already, it is especially in drawing that it must learn. In 1719, Jean Lamour marries Dieudonnée Madeleine, eight years its elder which gives him three children.
In October 1719, Jean Lamour carries the title of Master metal worker and S `installs on its account in 1724 in the new city, meadows of the church St Sebastien. It repairs the lanterns of the city and maintenance the ringing of the parishes.
It forges the balconies of the towers of the Primatiale news (cathedral) and probably the crosses.
In 1726, the town of Nancy entrusts to him the load of metal worker of the City, with the pledges of 10 francs barrois per annum. This honorary function is worth new orders to him. It realizes in 1728, for the church Saint-Epvre, a " grillage" with the weapons of the city, undoubtedly very worked since estimated at 1150 pounds, roasts today disappeared.
At the same time the city orders to him a balcony for the old Intendance, in the Northern house of the Ducal Palate. This balcony was sold later, finding one second life on the Hotel of the Government in Metz, become Law courts. Of the Old Intendance, there remain however some saved elements of balcony of the fire of 1872, currently preserved at the Lorraine Musée.
In 1730, Jean Lamour enters the brotherhood of the the Blessed Sacrament. At that time finishes the new church Saint-Sebastien, construction directed by the Jennesson architect. On this building it carries out the crosses.

He becomes the metal worker of Stanislas Leszczynski and uses the old church of the Primatiale like a vast workshop of forging mill to realize, in collaboration with the architect Emmanuel Héré, the splendid gold raised grids of the Place Stanislas with Nancy.
Jean Lamour dies in 1771 at the 73 years age. Its body rests in the church of the convent of Tiny of Nancy until 1808, date on which the church is entirely destroyed in a vast transformation of the convent, become today the Lycée Henri Poincaré.
