In 1415, Jean Ier de Nassau-Beilstein married Mechtilde zu Isemburg († 1436), (girl of the count Eberhard zu Isemburg)

Four children were born from this union:

  • Marguerite de Nassau-Beilstein († 1498), in 1442 it married Jean von Schöneck († 1462), widow, it married in 1462 the count Maurice de Pyrmont († 1494)

  • Philippe de Nassau-Beilstein, lord of Genzau, it was killed in 1446

  • Elisabeth de Nassau-Beilstein († 1459), it married Othon von Bronchorst († 1458)

Jean Ier de Nassau-Beilstein belonged to the third branch resulting from the second branch of the Maison of Nassau. The line of Nassau-Beilstein belonged to the Ottonienne stem which gave stathouders to the Holland, with the Flanders, with the United Provinces, a king with the England and the Scotland in the person of Guillaume III of Orange-Nassau, kings with the Netherlands.

The line of Nassau-Beilstein died out in 1561 with Jean III of Nassau-Beilstein.
