Jean Ier de Castille
Jean Ier (August 24th 1358 - October 9th 1390) was king de Castille (1379 - 1390). He was the son of Henri II and his wife Jeanne-Handbook of Castille, girl of Jean-Handbook of Villena.
Of its first marriage with Aliénor d' Aragon, it had several children, among whom Henri III of Castille and Ferdinand I {{er}} of Aragon.
With the beginning of its reign, it had to face with the claims of Jean of Ghent, which claimed the throne because it had married Constance of Castille, oldest daughter of Pierre Cruel the. It had several conflicts with the Portugal which was combined of Jean of Ghent. The first quarrel took place about the throne of Portugal. Jean Ier had indeed married Béatrice of Portugal, only daughter of the king Ferdinand I {{er}}. With died of his father-in-law, Jean claimed the throne. One period of anarchy, the Portuguese Crisis of 1383-1385, followed. However, Jean Ier had to face the national feeling of the Portuguese people and was severely demolishes with the Bataille of Aljubarrota the August 14th 1385.
Jean Ier put an end to the claims of Jean of Ghent by marrying in 1387 his son Henri with Catherine of Lancaster, girl of Constance and Jean of Ghent. Jean Ier died of a fall of horse, the October 9th 1390 with Alcalá.
