Jean IV of Trawl-net-Arlay

Jean IV of Trawl-net-Arlay (1443 - 1502) was prince d' Orange, lord of Arlay, Nozeroy and Montfort (ancestor of the Maison of Orange-Nassau and the queen Beatrix of the Netherlands who currently reigns on the Netherlands). It was commonly called Jean de Chalon , then prince d' Orange .

Biography

It is born in 1443 in Franche-Comté. Wire of the prince d' Orange Guillaume VII (1414 - 1475) and of Catherine of Brittany (girl of the count Richard d' Étampes and sister of the duke François II of Brittany).

He marries in 1467 Jeanne de Bourbon (girl of the duke Charles Ier de Bourbon and of Agnès of Burgundy and little girl of the duke of Burgundy Jean Ier of Burgundy (Jean without Peur))

Widower in 1483, it marries in second wedding Philiberte of Luxembourg (girl of Antoine II of Ligny, Count de Brienne of Ligny and Roucy) with which he has Claude of Arguel Trawl-net deceased at the 2 years age, and Philibert de Chalon Arlay (1502 1530) which succeeds to him

In 1479, following the death of its powerful allied duke of Burgundy Charles Bold the, his enemy the king Louis XI passes in strong position and confiscates the totality of the goods of the house of the Trawl-net-Arlay, forcing the Orange prince to compose and enter to the service of the king. Jean IV of Trawl-net-Arlay dies on April 8th 1502 with old 49 years. His/her son Philibert de Chalon succeeds to him.

His Philiberte wife of Luxembourg places order the January 23rd 1531 to the sculptors Conrad Meyt and Giovanni Battista Mariotto of a monument in Albâtre and of a Gisant for her husband Jean IV of Trawl-net Arlay, his first wife Jeanne de Bourbon, her first wire Claude d' Arguel died in old 2 years, her second wire Philibert de Chalon and itself, which it makes place at the convent of the cordeliers street of Cordeliers at Lons-the-Salt maker in the the Jura in Franche-Comté
