Jean II of the Brabant
Jean II of the Brabant , known as the Pacific , born the September 27th 1275, died with Tervueren the October 27th 1312, was duke of the Brabant and Limbourg of 1294 with 1312. It was wire of Jean I {{er}}, duke of the Brabant and Limbourg, and Marguerite of Flanders
It was promised in marriage to Marguerite of England since 1277 and married it when it was fifteen years old. It succeeded his father in 1294, but had to face revolts, of which it was made main with the assistance of his uncle Godefroy d' Aerschot. It took share then with a league with the king of England and Guy de Dampierre, count de Flandre and of another lords against Philippe IV Beautiful the, king de France. Delays prevented the offensive, and the league was dislocated in 1300. It was essential however in the area which was to become thereafter the Belgium and combatit the emperor Albert de Habsbourg which sought to harden its authority in the area, but had to be subjected. In 1303, it combatit the count Jean II of Holland to extend towards the mouth from the Scheldt, but essuya a failure.
Reached Gravel, it signed on its bed of dead the Charte of Cortenberg which will hold place of constitution of the duchy of the Brabant and died in 1312.

He had married with the Abbaye of Westminster the July 9th 1290 Marguerite of England (1275 † 1333), girl of Edouard I {{er}}, king d' Angleterre and of Éléonore de Castille. They had:- Jean III (1300 † 1355), duke of the Brabant and Limbourg
