Jean II of Aragon

Jean II of Aragon (Catalan: Joan II , Castilian: Juan II ), born the June 29th 1398 with Medina del Campo, dead the January 19th 1479 with Barcelona, was king de Navarre by marriage between 1425 and 1441 then by usurpation between 1441 and 1479), and finally king d' Aragon, of Majorque, Sardinia and Sicily (under the name of Jean Ier), count of Barcelona, Roussillon and Cerdagne between 1458 and 1479.
Representative of the Dynasty of Trastamare, he was the son of the king d' Aragon Ferdinand Ier (1380-1416) and of Éléonore de Castille (1374-1435).
He succeeded his brother Alphonse V (1396-1458) like sovereign of the whole of the territories of the Couronne of Aragon.
Marriage and descent
The January 18th 1420, with Pampelune, it married in first weddings future the Blanche Anger (1385-1441), queen of Navarre (1425 - 1441), girl of the king Charles III known as Charles Noble the , and of Éléonore de Castille (apr. 1363-1416).
With died of his wife in 1441, it usurped the throne of Navarre between 1441 and 1479 with the successive detriment of their three children, legitimate heirs to the throne of Navarre:
- Charles known as '' of Viane '' (1421-1461) - Charles “IV”, who was supported by an important part of the Catalan population , which brought a civil war between the father and the son, they reconciled in 1460 but Charles de Viana died in 1461 under mysterious conditions, perhaps poisoned by his/her mother-in-law.
- White of Aragon (1424-1464) called White “II”
- Éléonore Anger of Navarre (v. 1426-1479), which helped his/her father who delivered his Blanche sister to him, that it let perish in prison. Éléonore, which had married in 1436 the count de Foix Gaston IV (1425-1472) succeeded to him for a few months (1479-1479) on the throne of Navarre, while the territories of the Couronne of Aragon were normally allotted to a son resulting from its second marriage.
The 1er April 1444, Jean II of Aragon married in second weddings Jeanne Enríquez (1425-1468), girl of Fadrique Enríquez (death in 1473), admiral de Castille, and of Marina Fernández de Córdova (dead in 1431).
Of this second union are resulting:
- Éléonore d' Aragon (born between 1446 and 1448, died at a nonknown date, undoubtedly in low age)
- Ferdinand II of Aragon (1452-1516), told to Ferdinand the Catholic , king of Aragon (1479-1516),
- Jeanne d' Aragon (1454-1517), which married in 1476 his/her first cousin Ferdinand d' Aragon (1423-1494), king of Naples (1458-1494), wire illegitimate of the king Alphonse V.
- Marie d' Aragon (born in 1455, undoubtedly died in low age).
