Jean III of Namur

Jean III of Namur , dead on March 1st 1429, was marquis de Namur of 1418 with 1429. It was wire of Guillaume Ier, marquis de Namur, and of Catherine of Savoy.

With died his/her father, in 1391, it inherited the grounds of Wynendaele and Renaix, while his/her older brother, Guillaume II, became count de Namur. This last died without children in 1418. Its luxury and its expenditure dissatisfied its subjects, because of the taxes. In 1421, sifted debts, it sold the Comté of Namur in life annuity with Philippe the Good, duke of Burgundy.

Of his cousin Cecile of Savoy, it had an illegitimate son, Philippe de Namur († 1449), lord of Dhuy, author of a bastard branch.
