Jean Helene

Jean Helene , of her true name Christian Baldensperger , born in 1953 with Mulhouse, was a Journaliste French impassioned by the Africa.

Correspondent of RFI in Ivory Coast, it was assassinated by a police officer with Abidjan on Tuesday, October 21 2003 close to the Head office of the national police force of the Ivory Coast.

Jean Helene had ensured the direction of the Africa service between 2001 and 2002, at the request of Jean-Paul Cluzel, general president-director of RFI. He worked also a long time for the Le Monde daily newspaper.

The assassin of Jean Helene, the Sergeant Séri Toulou Dago Theodore , was condemned in December 2003 to 17 years of prison.
