At the time of the seat of this city, he opposes an energetic if not heroic resistance to the troops of Louis XIII until the capitulation of the city in 1628, after which he had to exile himself. After a tormented existence, Guiton dies out in its field of Puts back Virgin (current commune of Jarne) and the register of the deaths of the Protestants is marked this simple: “March 15th, 1654. Jehan Guiton escuyer, sior of Rest-Virgin, 69 years age or approximately, was buried” . Its burial took place in a small cemetery located close to the rampart of the western face of the city, beside the place where was opened, at the XIXème century, the broad way which leads to the port of Pallice.
