Jean Grandel
Jean Grandel is a trade unionist and French politician, born the September 4th 1891 with Montpellier. He was shot by the Germans the October 22nd 1941 with Châteaubriant.
Biography
The trade-union route at the postal and telecommunications authorities
- September 1910: supernumerary of postal and telecommunications authorities.
- 1911 : adhesion with AG of the agents of the postal and telecommunications authorities, which holds place of trade union.
- 1924 : Jean Grandel is named made at Paris-Station.
- May 1926: it is made with the telegraphic Exchange, street of Grenelle in the 7th district of Paris.
- November 1927: Jean Grandel is assistant general secretary of the postal Federation CGTU. The same year, he is candidate with the elections for the Superior council of the postal and telecommunications authorities.
- Mars 1929: disciplinary suspension following its union action, then revocation of the postal and telecommunications authorities the July 25th 1929.
- 1936 : it is one of the secretaries of the reunified federation CGT of the postal and telecommunications authorities. The May 15th 1936, strong act of the new ministry Leon Blum; it is reinstated in the postal and telecommunications authorities by the government of the Popular front.
- 1937 : on leave of the postal and telecommunications authorities, it takes part in the organization of the postal service of the international Brigades.
The Communist militant
- July 1934: Jean Grandel is elected general adviser of the department of the the Seine, for the Canton of Gennevilliers.
- October 21st 1934: the communist list is elected at the time of a partial election municipal in Gennevilliers. Jean Grandel is elected mayor, Julien Mocquard, Waldeck the Oilcan, Louis Castel and François Serres is his assistants. He is re-elected with the municipal elections of May 1935.
- 1939 : suspended its functions, following the prohibition of the PCF.
- 1940 : internee with the camp of Aincourt (today in the Val-d'Oise)
- October 22nd 1941: he is shot, by the Nazis, like hostage with Châteaubriant, with 26 others of his comrades (of which Guy Moquet). He had just been 50 years old.
