Origin

He is the junior by a family of four children, his father is Cordonnier. In 1910, its family is fixed at Nort-sur-Erdre, close to Nantes. After a failure with the certificate of primary studies, it begins in 1912 a professional training with Nantes, then with Paris, where it studies with the Académie of the Large Thatched cottage. The artistic field

He is pupil of the Ecole of the Art schools of Nantes in 1919. He fixes himself at Nort-sur-Erdre in 1922, where he carries on an community activity while continuing to paint. In 1922, at the time of a voyage to Paris, it carries out its first contacts with works cubists. After one period Cubiste, it carries out its first painting abstracted in 1925 and discovers in 1926 the work of Piet Mondrian.

It carries out a polychromy and a furniture néo-plastic for its house of Nort-sur-Erdre. It applies to the modern world, in particular with the Architecture, research to the abstract art of Piet Mondrian. It will not cease more especially developing its ideas in the field of the relief as of 1930, then of construction in space, finally in projects of architecture. He travels in 1932 in Soviet Union, invited by a group of intellectuals and artists and discovers the Russian Constructivisme. In 1934, he becomes member of the management committee of association Abstraction-Creation, created in 1931. It settles with the Vésinet in 1937, sells its house of Nort-sur-Erdre and destroyed most of its work. It is mobilized in 1939, then prisoner of war until in 1942.

Jean Gorin also remains with Grasse between 1940 and 1945, where it has a store of objects of decoration. He fixes himself successively at Grasse (1947), with Nice for health reason in 1950 and develops projects of architecture néo-plastic to with it, until in 1956, where he settles with the Perreux, and finally, with Meudon (1962). It carries out sculptures, or rather models of sculptures which it photographs before destroying them, not being able, to preserve them in its workshop, too exiguous. Its art was outdistanced of that of Mondrian by the introduction of the Relief which develops until becoming a true mural sculpture. The Neoplasticism of Mondrian did not admit that the compositions carried out with vertical and horizontal lines. In its creations, it ends up introducing the circle, then the oblique line, while maintaining the rigor horizontal-vertical of the pure neoplasticism.
