Jean Glucq

Jean Glucq , lord of Saint Port and known as " secretary of the King "

Founder of a manufacture of dyeing known as " royale" , joint of the Royal Manufacture of tapestry of the Goblins. Native of Amsterdam, Jean Glucq came in the middle of the 17th century to the Faubourg Saint-Marcel from Paris, to import a “secrecy for the blue of king and the red with the scarlet ” at the request of Colbert. With its associates Bernard Granville and François Julienne (close of which he will marry the sister, Marie-Charlotte on January 22nd 1674) he creates a manufacture of dyeing for which he will obtain a 20 years privilege on November 19th 1667. This royal privilege conferred a kind of monopoly to him which enabled him to give a great rise to its business and it made fortune. Thus it rented then bought in 1686 the house of in top of 3 rue de Bièvre, formerly pertaining to the family Gobelin, in 1700, the Château of Holy-Base and the seigniory of Saint Port, on March 3rd 1713, the large house of the n°3, 5 and 7 quai des Théatins and other properties in which it did also great work.

Godfather of its nephew Jean Julienne (wire of another brother-in-law, Claude Julienne de Francoeur), who it with François Julienne, they contributed to form chose it by affection, for its brilliant aptitudes by entrusting their exclusive patents of dyeing to him to scarlet, for the blue of king the made-to-order of Holland, Spain and England which then made the great reputation of the '' royal manufacture of dyeing and fine cloths '' located to the Goblins.

Benefactor of the church of Seine-Port, it had the honors of the burial inside this church the shortly after his death to Holy-Base on November 1st 1718. Its two sons, Jean-Baptiste Glucq, baron of St Port and Claude Glucq, lord of Villegénis divided the heritage ten years after death, on May 12th 1723, quay of Théatins, their mother.
