Jean Gadrey

Jean Gadrey , professor of economy to the University of Lille I, member of the Scientific advice of Attac, is an economist Altermondialiste who in particular contributed to the reflection on the aspects of the " Néolibéralisme " that he judges absurd and harmful.

He was member of the committee of the 12 economists in the battle for not with the project of Constitutional treaty and animated many conferences on the subject. He wrote on this subject the article " Work conditions, structural bases, public services: The turn néo-liberal of the years 1990 in Europe" ; after a largely documented criticism, the appendix proposes social Europe to build.

Jean Gadrey calls into question the religion of the growth which according to him seriously endangers planet from its effects on the environment. He estimates that its economic impact will have very important consequences on the worldwide economy and thus preaches measurement based on the concept of have-growth. He privileges on the other hand the analysis of the development of the inequalities, in many articles as in the collective book which he led in 2005-2006 in a group of the Scientific advice of ATTAC. He also took part in the creation of the indicator of the inequalities in France known as IBP 40 (contraction of the reverse of initials GDP and the CAC40) and is always member of the editorial board of the site " Bip40 - Network of alarm on the inégalités".

Jean Gadrey as carried out a critical analysis of the aspects considered to be absurd of the Economic indicator dominating as is currently the rough National product, as for example in the collective book written in English and gathering texts of economists criticizing the neoliberalism (see the movement Post-Autistic Economics ). On this topic, it recently completed many work in collaboration with his colleague Florence Jany-Catrice.

Jean Gadrey is in addition a specialist recognized in the services in France. He is president of the commission " besides; Trade and services" CNIS which lays down the main trends of the statistics carried out in this field. He is the author of a book on the myth of the Nouvelle economy and of a chapter criticizing the generally accepted idea according to which " It is necessary to develop the small uses of service with low productivity, like Américains" in the book the éconoclastes published with the editions " The découverte".
