Jean Freustié

Jean Freustié , of his true name Jean Teurlay , born on October 3rd, 1914 with Libourne (the Gironde), is high in an easy family whose father is wine merchant.

After secondary studies at the Montesquieu Institution of Libourne, it follows studies of medicine to the Medical college of Bordeaux then of Algiers. Initially intern at the Hospitals of Bordeaux (1936), it goes up to Paris where he becomes company doctor in 1950.

With its first novel, to deliver only on ordinance (the Roundtable, 1952), it integrates the medium of the letters. He then attends the Procope coffee, living room of writers created by Jacques Brenner and Claude Perdriel, like their literary review, the Book of the seasons . Y crossing Francoise Sagan, Bernard Frank, Jean-Louis Curtis or François Nourissier, it comes into contact with great writers as Jacques Chardonne, Paul Morand, Cocteau or Ionesco.

Entered to France Observer like literary criticism in 1961, it is devoted two years later by the Roger-Nimier price for his novel the Footbridge (Grasset, 1963). Preserving its station of literary criticism at the Nouvel Observateur (1964), it is also to advise arts person at Denoël. Price of the novel of the company of the men of letters in 1969, Price Renaudot in 1970, it contributes the following year to the Dictionnaire of erotic works (Mercure de France, 1971).
