Jean Frederic of Saxony (1503-1554)

Jean-Frederic of Saxony says Magnanime (in German Johann Friedrich der Grossmütige ) was born with Torgau the June 30th 1503. He was the last voter of the branch ernestine of the House of Saxony. He was one of the large guards of Luther. . He was voter of Saxony, Count Palatine of Saxony, Landgrave of Thuringe of 1532 with 1547, then duke of Saxony-Weimar.

He was the chief of the Ligue of Smalkade. But while seizing the town of Wurzen, it injured the rights of his cousin Maurice of Saxony. It loses the electorate in 1547 after the defeat of the Bataille of Muehlberg and is imprisoned by Maurice of Saxony branch albertine of the House of Saxony. Comdamné with death, it had the safe life by giving up all its rights and possessions with his/her cousin. It is released in 1552 and then helps his cousin in war against Charles Quint.
Jean-Frederic of Saxony dies in Weimar the March 3rd 1554.
