Jean Fonteyne

Jean Fonteyne is a lawyer, resistant, Politician and Belgian Cinéaste born in May 1899 with Ledeberg (close to Ghent in Eastern Flanders) and deceased the June 22nd 1974.

In 1933, it makes with the photographer Albert Van Ommeslaghe (1890 - 1976) the film Journée Tayenne - July 9th, 1933 and goes up between 1933 and 1936 Around Coal-mining on the basis of the turning of the film Misère to Coal-mining of Joris Ivens and Henri Storck.

It was resistant during the two world wars.

Member of the Belgian Communist party, he is senator between 1946 and 1949.

Married with Andree De Lannay, they had four children.
