Jean Filiatrault
Jean Filiatrault (Montreal, 1919 - 1982) was a Romancier Québécois.
Québécois man of letters, Filiatrault makes appear in the years 1950 three novels having the inceste for topic: Unproductive lands , Chains and the impossible Refuge . Chains , especially, is worth notoriety to him (Price of the Circle of the book of France), and remains still today traditional of the psychological literature of before the Quiet revolution, thanks to an original structure (work appears less one novel that a diptych of two news bound by a common topic) and with a hardly buckled treatment of the inceste mother/wire. With the turning of the decade 1960, the author approaches the psychological detective novel with the Money is odor of night (1961, version altered in 1967), and devotes himself to the writing of television serials for the television of Radio-Canada: the Balsamine (1962-1963 - work wrongfully allotted to Jean Desprez by several sources), the Happiness of the others (1965-1967), the terrestrial Paradise (1968-1972). In 1972, this last serial, censured by the television of State, is abruptly withdrawn from the schedule, because of discussed topics (homosexuality, prostitution, nudity, etc). Elected official chair Company of the Canadian writers in 1960 and member of the royal Company of Canada in 1961, Filiatrault collaborates moreover in the Liberté review and product of many texts for the radio. He dies suddenly of a cancer of the pancreas in 1982.
