Jean Dides
Jean Dides (August 5th, 1915, Paris — April 2nd, 2004, Paris) was a police superintendent and member of the General informations (RG) under the government Pierre Mendes France, City council man and appointed Poujadiste French. In load of Ve section of the RG whose mission was to track the foreign Résistants under Vichy, it makes use of its position to take action of resistance, it is immediately reinstates at the time of purification. After the release it engages in the fight Anti-communiste, becoming the main thing associated in this mission of the prefect of police of Paris Jean Baylot. Drawn aside of its post of police chief following the “Business of the escapes” of 1954, which destabilizes the Minister of Interior Department François Mitterrand, considered to be too favorable to the Décolonisation, it is made elect in January 1956 under the banner of the Union and French fraternity. Jean Dides preserves however his influence in the police force, in particular at the time of the Crise of May 1958 where the police force is acquired to him.
Vichy and after war
Jean Dides engages as policeman in 1940. Two years later, it is named by Rottée, the director of the RG (shot with the Libération), principal inspector of the RG to the 5th section, charged in particular with the repression of the foreign Résistants. Following the quite relative purification in the rows of the French police force, which ensured the maintenance of law and order Nazi during four years, the 5.000 police officers put at the variation by the commissions of purification constitute “Friendly the Far away ones from the Administration” in 1946. Three years later, they crééent the “friendly Association of defense of the professional interests of graded Municipal police”, composed of the 2.200 police officers of the police heaquarters purified in 1944-45. This one is directed by Jean Dides, who itself was suspended only a few weeks, by a commission chaired by its former principal inspector the 5th section, Migeon.
He becomes member of RPF Gaulliste in 1947, and reconverts himself into the monitoring and the repression of the communist , which become the principal enemy after the Discours of Fulton of Churchill, in 1946, about the “iron curtain”, then the reference, in May 1947, of the communist Ministers for the government. Jean Dides thus writes an internal booklet of the RPF, entitled the fight for the capacity, where one can read: “We want to consider that PCF, national danger, must be destroyed. We want the bursting of his apparatus, its means and, if necessary, its chiefs”. The CGT-Police force is then purified by the socialist minister for the interior Jules Moch: 800 marked police officers of sympathy with PCF are revoked, and 2.200 transferred. Jean Dides then deposits a recourse to the Council of State, after which sixty police chiefs named with the title of Resistance were broken or put at the retirement, then trade union of the police superintendents becomes leading.
The former general secretary with SGP (General trade union of the police force), Jean Chaunac, declared thus in a discussion with the historian Maurice Rajsfus:
“ Since 1947, with the assistance of the police chief Jean Dides, the capacity set up a police force of the shade likely to assemble bad blows, to practice the Fichage, the Espionnage and the provocation in a structured way. To that the setting in ploace of networks was added whose role was to intimidate the witnesses. All this system of civic perversion will be institutionalized with the arrival of Jean Baylot with the head of the police headquarter, in 1951. ”
Jean Dides will be revoked of his functions of police chief after the Affaire of the escapes towards the end of the Guerre of Indo-China, which aims at discrediting the Minister of Interior Department François Mitterrand, in his eyes too favorable to the Décolonisation and which has, moreover, dislocated its functions the prefect of police Jean Baylot. In 1954, it makes conceal the reports of the Defense committee main road in the trunk of the secretary, the senior official Jean Mons, the fact of copying and transmits them to PCF via the journalist André Baranès. Then it announces to its chiefs this escape by directing the suspicion towards Mitterrand. The president of the council, Pierre Mendès France, makes make an investigation without warning his minister. Trickery is discovered two months later but its victim will not forgive.
Jean Dides is then elected appointed poujadist in January 1956, under the banner of the Union and French fraternity, which protects it from any legal proceeding concerning the business of the escapes (the lawsuit takes place the same year). He integrates the lobby “Algeria French” into the House of Commons, and would have been related to OAS. He belongs to the National front for French Algeria (FNAF). He continues however to make use of his influence in the police force. Thus, at the time of the Crise of May 1958, when the soldiers threaten to launch the Opération Resurrection to Corsica and of launching parachutists on Paris, the Minister of Interior Department Jules Moch has a presentiment of that it cannot be based on the police force to resist the coup d'etat. Thus, Merry Bromberger and Serge Bromberger write in the 13 plots of May 13rd :
“ the police force? It Moch knows since March 13rd that there is not to count on it. This evening, outgoing of the Palate-Bourbon, he saw ravelling the agents and the inspectors hooting the deputies. He has cries of " of course; Died in Juifs". The 20.000 policemen of Paris, are in " majority; didistes" , gained with the movement of the Dides police chief for an authoritarian regime. ”
Jean Dides would have belonged to the network Stay-behind French, a clandestine paramilitary group directed by NATO and the CIA.
According to the hearing of Alain Guerin, journalist with Humanity, in front of the National Assembly at the time of the parliamentary inquiry concerning SAC (Service of civic action), the service of order gaullist dissolved in 1982 after the slaughter of Auriol, “Historically, the service of order of the RPF gave rise to the Dides network which was also an American antenna as there was the different one in Italy. ” After reading of his hearing, Guerin made annex the following remark: “The Dides network owes its name to the police chief Jean Dides, later appointed poujadist. The “Dides network” which was in contact with the embassy of the United States via a diplomat named Lallier, had as a mainstay André Baranès and Alfred Delarue. Baranès was a member of the PCF which had been put at the service of the director of the Hirsch National security then of the prefect of police of Paris Jean Baylotl. Alfred Delarue. alias “Mr Charles” was a former member of the DC special brigades” under the occupation, condemned to the forced labors with the Release, escaped prisoner of the camp of Noë, recovered by the General informations which it had made it possible to find their files anticommunists of before the War. Qualified service “extra-walled” with the police headquarter, the “Dides network” remains one of the most perfect examples of “parapolice”. ”.
In 1959, Jean Dides is made elect like City council man of Paris under the 8th sector, 11th and 12th districts, under the label " Union of independent and the national republicans of Paris ". He sat within the Parisian Parliament until 1965 on the benches of the group of the republican Center. He exerted there the functions of secretary of the Commission of youth and the sports and of secretary of the 2nd Committee.
