Jean Delville
Jean Delville painter Symbolist Belgian born in 1867 with Leuwen and deceased in 1953 with Forest-Lez-Brussels.
Biography
He was also poet, writer and theorist of art, raises Jean-François Portaels, he is initially realistic painter and exposes for the first time with Rise in 1885. He publishes his first poems in 1888 (in the review " Wallonia "). He begins his career by making drawings inspired by the operas of Wagner of Parsifal in particular in 1890.Its work is marked by the esotericism and a certain philosophical idealism and fits clearly in mobility Symbolist. Follower of the Cabal, disciple of Joséphin Péladan, it exposes to the Living rooms of the esthetic Rosicrucian brotherhood as from 1892.
On this date it founds association << For the Art >> which gathers the majority of the Belgian Symbolists. In 1896 it organizes the first Living room of the idealistic Art conceived like a window of the esoteric and mystical tendencies. Between 1900 and 1905 it off teaches with the School Art of Glasgow in Great Britain where its works and its theories are diffused. In 1924, it is named member of the class of the fine arts of the royal Académie of Belgium. Of 1907 with 1937 it teaches with the royal Académie of the Art schools of Brussels and with the Académie of Mons. Platonic convinced, it expresses a belief determined in the fusion of the masculine and female through the absolute love, and conceives Art like a form of religious redemption.
