Jean Delumeau

Jean Delumeau , born the June 18th 1923 with Nantes, is a historian French specialist in the Christianisme, in particular of the period of the Renaissance.

Former student of the National university, aggregate of history, member of the French School of Rome and doctor arts, it taught the history with the Polytechnic school, with the university of Rennes II, with the practical École of the high studies and with the Université of Paris I.

He taught with the Collège de France, where he occupied in 1975 the pulpit of history of religious mentalities in the modern Occident. He is member of the Académie of the inscriptions and the humanities since 1988.

He is member of the committee of sponsorship of the French Coordination for the Decade of the culture of peace and non-violence.
