Jean Daniélou
Jean Daniélou (May 14th 1905 with Neuilly-sur-Seine - May 20th 1974 with Paris) is a Théologie N and cardinal French.
Biography
Wire of Charles Daniélou, politician, several times minister, rather anticlerical, and of Madeleine Clamorgan, founder of the Sainte-Marie institutions and a free University young girls, it has as an younger brother the future indianist Alain Daniélou (1907-1994).
After studies of letters and philosophy with the Sorbonne, it is aggregate of grammar in 1927. It enters to the Jésuites in 1929 and is devoted to teaching, initially in a college of boys with Poitiers. It follows studies of theology to the catholic Faculty of Lyon, then one of most famous in the world, and it is ordered priest in 1938.
During the Second world war, it is mobilized in the air force until in 1940. Life income civil, it completes its Doctorat theology in 1942 and becomes chaplain of the National university of young girls, with Sevres. It founds the collection “Sources Christian” in collaboration with Henri de Lubac, thus inaugurating the revival of the patristic catholic.
He sees himself allotting in 1944 a pulpit of history of old Christianity to the catholic Institut of Paris, from which he will become the senior. At the request of the pope Jean XXIII, it takes part as expert in the Concile Vatican II. In 1969, it receives the bar of cardinal.
He is elected with the French Academy in 1972, succeeding the cardinal Tisserant.
Its sudden death caused many comments: one found his body in a Parisian prostitute. The Catholic church explained whereas the cardinal frequently visited the patients and the prostitutes. Official press release added that it was “in the épectase of the Apostle that it gone to the meeting of Alive God”, thus employing a theological term indicating the effort of the heart towards holiness. The Duck connected , little convinced by this official explanation, joked on the word, thus giving him the significance of “died during the orgasm” which it had of nothing at the beginning, only meaning now retained by the Petit Robert .
Gabriel Macé answered the June 26th 1974: “We are dreadful jojos who does not respect the private life (…) and which is spread in ribald insinuations (…). All in all, we wanted to harm the memory of the cardinal - one goes even until saying that we wanted to conduct campaign against the celibacy of the priests! ”
