Jean Cosyn

Jean Cosyn , is an sculptor-architect of Brussels of the seventeenth century, whose name remains attached to the rebuilding of the Grand-Place of Brussels.

He became apprentice of Aert Moerevelt in 1658. He was accepted Master sculptor in the Trade of Four-Crowned in 1678. He died in 1708.

Its tomb visible with Holy-Gudule, whose inscription became illegible, and who is indicated by no panel, is decorated of its figure IC (Iohannes Cosyn) entourré of the tools of the mason, square, compass, trowel, measuring rod, level.

The archivist Guillaume Of Marez allots Grand-Place, the to him Maison of the King d' Espagne , like the Wheelbarrow , because of their resemblance to the Maison of Bellone which is allotted to him, but of which makes some he would be the author only bust of Bellone.

Let us notice that during the rebuilding of the Grand-Place of Brussels, it had already nearly 56 years. But only the rich get richer…
