Jean Cornil

Jean Cornil is a socialist Politician Belgian born the August 8th 1958 with Brussels.

He is the vice-president of the federation of Brussels of the Belgian socialist party (French-speaking), federal senator (since 2003) and was elected to advise communal in his commune, with Etterbeek, on October 8th, 2006.

Biography

Resulting from a family of intellectuals and lawyers, it starts studies of right to the Universit3e libre de Bruxelles then of social worker at the higher School working (EOS), the historical school of the party (PS) and trade union (FGTB) socialist. In both cases, it will not finish its studies. Impassioned music, he plays of the piano.

After having worked within various ministerial cabinets and near the acting general with the rights of the child, it was during eight years assistant editor of the Center for the equal opportunity and the fight against racism. Since May 18th, 2003, he takes up the duty of senator elected directly by the French electoral college. Its fields of predilection are the associative one, the democracy and the citizenship, employment, childhood youth, ethics, social integration, justice, poverty, the international relations.

With the senate, he is Member of the Commission of the social affairs and the Commission of the foreign relations and defense, the committee of opinion for the equal opportunity between the women and the men.

Following the Business Clearstream 1, it deposits in 2004, jointly with Isabelle Lasting a private bill aiming at creating a commission of national survey charged to inquire into the use of accounts in the " companies of clearing and routing" at ends of Tax evasion and/or Money laundering.

In July 2005, Jean Cornil deposits with the Senate of Belgium a proposal for a revision of the Constitution in order to register the Sustainable development there. An initiative of the SPa followed, just as one day of studies, and the text, modified according to a compromise in order to collect the majority of two thirds, was voted the July 13rd 2006 in plenary session of the Senate.
