Jean Clerté

Jean Clerté is a painter, engraver and French sculptor born in 1930 in Saint-Savin-sur-Gartempe.

Since 1968, Jean Clerté côtoie frequently the painter Pierre Alechinsky to develop its work engraved and the taping on fabric of its acrylic resins on paper; Pierre Alechinsky initiates it with the acrylic resin.

Jean Clerté created a world in a space where the drawing, painting, the objects take part of a ludic figuration. From its drawings were born from the sculptures which are as many drawings in volumes, sometimes mobile.
