Jean Chamant
Jean Chamant is a Politician French, born the November 23rd 1913 with Chagny (Saône-et-Loire).
Biography
Raise at the Saint-Jacob School in Joigny and with the Faculty of Law of Paris, he is bachelor of law. He is lawyer with the Court of Appeal of Paris since 1937.Deputy republican-independent or independent of the Yonne of 1954 with 1977 (subject to the interruptions due to the ministerial functions),
Secretary of foreign affairs in 1955, it is particularly in charge with the Moroccan and Tunisian businesses and the associated States. January 2nd, 1956, its seat passes to a poujadist who will be invalidated. It does not agree to be " coopté". He resigns and requests the confidence of the voters who grant it to him largely at the time of a by-election the next on July 15th (56%). He supports the return to the capacity of the de Gaulle general in 1958.
He becomes vice-president of the National Assembly of 1959 to 1967. In 1962, it leaves CNI with Giscard d'Estaing after the elections of 1962 and finds the Républicains Independent.
Several times Minister for Transport between 1967 and 1972, where it is closely associated with the development of achievements like the Concorde, the Airbus or TGV.
Senator RPR of 1977 with 1995, date on which it loses its seat, he was vice-president of this Senate.
General adviser since 1965, he is president of the General advice of Yonne of 1970 to 1992. He was city council man in Sens since 1947 and mayor of Avallon of 1977 to 1983. He was also president of the District council of Burgundy of 1974 to 1978. Very influential personality of Yonne, one called it the " king Jean".
He is Officer of the Legion of Honor.
